Anton Fein and his security team were all set up in the transporter room, prepared for an assault on the enemy ship. He hit his comm. "Fein to bridge. We're ready anytime here." They acknowledged his message and soon he felt the shimmering feeling that was received when transporting. The personal cloaks were on and the team was floating in space, just outside the other Hexan’s shields. "Ok people, just move forward slowly. Their shields are set to deflect energy and torpedoes, but I doubt that even in the future they can deflect us." As the Security team moved toward the shield, Anton looked and saw something very strange in the energy discharge of the shield. It almost looked like some sort of creature. Suddenly it gathered together in a mass of energy, and started moving towards the away team. “Back off! Quickly! " Fein yelled. The team scrambled, trying to avoid the massive…thing…that was heading towards them. He commed the ship "Hexan, What is THAT?!" the answer came back that it was some kind of subspace creature. Anton sighed. If it wasn't the captain being kidnapped, it was some kind of beast. "How do we kill it, and most importantly, how do we get in the ship! If they haven't detected us by know, they will soon, and it will only be a matter of time before they start taking potshots. I need info!" The security team from the Hexan looked at the creature uncertainly. Suddenly it lurched in front of them. The thing was large, about one-fourth the size of the Hexan. It suddenly rammed into the Hexan's hull. On the bridge of the Hexan, Kevcabana called out commands from the command seat. "Report!” The ship suddenly shuddered, almost spilling him from his seat. “Are we being attacked by the Starchase again?” "No, Sir, we are being attacked by the subspace creature," Wrolk Tray reported from the Navigations console. "Sir," a Lt. called out from the Sciences station. "The creature has latched on to our hull. It's starting to drain our power sources." The lights on the bridge flickered.

Aurora trailed her fingers along Chance's brow tenderly. He was asleep with the hypospray they had knocked him with hours ago. He was lying comfortably on the large bed in her quarters. She sighed wistfully. It had been too long since she had seen the real Chance, not the one that was corrupted by Darkarian implants. He gasped, suddenly, and woke up. He looked around disoriented, and then focused his eyes on Aurora lying next to him. He moved up his hands to move her hands from contacting him, but was surprised to find his hands locked together in a metal device. "Aurora, where...why am I here?" "Comfortable?" she asked him. He looked at her, half angry and half confused. "I demand an explanation. Why have you taken me from my ship? Why are you even attacking my ship?" "I'm not attacking your ship, Captain Jenkins is." "Aurora..." She sat up and turned away. "You just take the romantics out of everything. You always did. You couldn't live in the fantasy of it all, it always had to be straightforward with you." Chance didn't know what to say after that. She sighed. "We have taken you because we can not have you, or namely Sklavus, come to life again. You have no idea of the destruction...the death. We couldn't miss this opportunity." "But in your past, the Hexan has already disappeared. How can I do anything if I am already here in the future." "The Hexan disappeared, half of the crew was found in shuttles a week later, including you and me." "I see..." Chance said, thinking over this information. "Why attack the Hexan itself?" "The disappearance of the Hexan led to many questions, and to many suspicions. However, in the long run, it made USI stronger, just as my father wanted." Chance was quiet for a few moments. "You realize of course that the Hexan's crew will try to rescue me." "I know that. However, they cannot compete with the Starchase's systems. I'm afraid you are technologically behind us. If you must know, a team is trying to get into the ship from the outside. However, Captain Jenkins' pet will take care of them." "Pet?" "A subspace creature that was discovered in the Delta Quadrant." Aurora suddenly cocked her head to the side, like she was being talked to. Chance could hear nothing. She turned and smiled at him. "My father wishes to talk to you..." "Your father?!" She pulled him to his feet and led him to a viewscreen. The modified USI symbol was on the screen. Then it changed over to a man's image. Chance gasped, recognizing Admiral Seccour. He was a bit aged, but there was no mistaking the Metorian warrior. Aurora smiled. "Father, here is Chance Modaine, a present for you in a way..." Seccour's piercing blue eyes looked at Chance. "Modaine...I wish I could say that it was good to see you again..." Chance stood in total shock, knees about to buckle. "Kerok.." he whispered. "It has been a long time," said Seccour. It was at that moment the surroundings around Chance began to spin causing him to slowly fall to the floor, feeling nauseous. Aurora quickly caught Chance by the shoulders and leaned him back, resting his head on her shoulder. "I did not anticipate this sort of reaction," Seccour said. Aurora felt Chance's head. "Father, he is feverish." she said. She then laid him down and approached the viewscreen. "Father, this is too much, he.." "Aurora, my daughter.. remember what happened. The thousands that were lost." "I know, but.." "Which is why he cannot become Sklavus again," said Seccour sternly. Aurora took a deep breath and looked back at Chance. He was lying helpless on the floor, bound, pale, and overwhelmed. He had slipped back into unconsciousness. Aurora thought back on her life with Chance,... the laughs, the tears, the love they shared. She then looked back to the viewscreen once again. "Father, it is obvious he is not Sklavus at the moment, and as far as the records show on the Hexan, he just overcame the implant effects given by Takhisis. I realize he still carries the assassin program within him, but he is himself right now. Besides, he is already supposed to be dead. What harm can he bring?" "Aurora, he is dangerous..." "No, he is helpless. I believe we are making a big mistake. We need to call off the attack on the Hexan," said Aurora. "If your compassion is interfering with your judgment.." "I love him." Seccour went silent. His eyes grew wide with disbelief and his face contorted to that of an angry Metorian. "I will hide it no longer." Aurora said quietly. "You will keep him tied up and contained in sickbay," commanded Seccour. "I will arrive within the hour." "Father.." "NOT ANOTHER WORD! CARRY OUT MY ORDERS!" yelled Seccour. The viewscreen shut off and Aurora faced Chance. She hoped her feelings about her prisoner were right, for there was a highly upset warrior on the way.
