Omniflux looked up as the doors parted and Aurora walked in. “Good morning,” he said to her. He noticed her hesitation at seeing him, and wondered if she would ever get used to him. It was almost comical now, how she always cringed in his presence, but tried to hide it. Finally she approached him. “Hello. I wanted to see Chance.” “He is still recovering, and I wouldn’t suggest trying to see him for a few more hours. He needs more rest.” Aurora gave a sad look. "Okay, I will check back later." She left sickbay, and decided to go to the bridge. Since she was Kerok Seccour's daughter, she was allowed to be there. When she walked in, she saw Commander Elite Kevcabana in the command seat. Not wanting to disturb him, she hung in the shadows to watch everything that was going on. He looked a little bored, since they were only traveling at warp through normal space. “What is our status?” Kev asked the navigations officer. “We are on direct course to the rendezvous point with the Orton. We should arrive there in approximately 28 hours,” Lt. JG Wrolk Tray responded. “Any sign of anything unusual?” He almost sounded hopeful. “No, Sir.” Suddenly the ship shook violently. Aurora gripped a console to stop herself from being thrown to the floor. "Then what is that?" Kevcabana yelled. "Sir, we are crossing over a rift in space. Our sensors didn't even detect it until we were on top of it!" Tray yelled back. "Get us out of it!" "Trying, Sir!" he answered. Aurora's heart jumped as the shaking continued. Finally it stopped. Aurora gingerly let go of the console, not wanting to be unprepared if the shaking began again. Kev settled himself back in the command seat. "Damage report," he said. "Reports from main engineering say the warp drive is offline. Minor damage to the ship's hull." "Sir," the Ops officer spoke up. "There is a ship off of our starboard side." "Where did that come from?" Kev asked. "Unknown, Sir. One minute it was not there, the next it was. Their ship shows sign of damage, similar to that of phaser blasts." He hesitated a moment. "Sir..." "Yes? What is it?" he asked. "Sir, the ship has a USI registry. But many of its systems are technology I have never seen, and they are not listed as one of the ships currently serving in USI." Kevcabana frowned. "Hail them." "No Answer Sir." "Keep hailing them. Helm. What is our course and location?" " Sir our course is ... Sir I can’t get a fix." "Is nothing working on this ship?" Kev said quietly. "Sir, they have responded to our hail." "On screen." The view screen flickered to life. "This is Commander Elite Kevcabana of the USI Hexan. Please identify yourself." "The what?" came the reply, as a figure came into view. It was a woman wearing a USI Captain’s Uniform. "Who are you? And why are you trying to impersonate a USI ship?" she asked. "I beg your pardon." Kev said. “We aren't impersonating any one or anybody. And this ship is certainly not impersonating a USI Ship. It is a USI ship. Now please identify yourself." Kev demanded. "You are in no position to make demands, Commander Elite Kevcabana. We have scanned your ship and know exactly what your capable of doing right now. But to put you at ease, I am Captain Helen Jenkins of The USI Starchase. What I don't understand is why you are trying to imitate a USI Vessel that has long since disappeared. And you say that you are First Officer Kevcabana? Why would you use that name when everyone in USI knows that Admiral Kevcabana was killed many years ago attempting to free Admiral Modaine from the Darkarians. Now please state who you are or we will be forced to destroy you like the dogs you are." Captain Jenkins said. "What..." was all Kev could say. "What year is this?" he finally asked. "Year? What sort of question is that?" "Because if what you say is true, and I still am unsure that I believe you, then we have just traveled through time and have no idea where we are or the status of what is supposed to be." "I will play your game for now Kevcabana, but don't tire me. I have just completed a long hard battle with the Darkarian Forces. It is the year 2869.” "Well if that's the case then, Captain, you have our unqualified surrender." Kev could see the crew around him start to fidget a little. "Surrender with out a fight?” She looked at him closely, studying him. He could tell she was weighing his word carefully. “You can’t be Darkarian. That's not their style. Maybe you are telling the truth. Prepare to receive a boarding party." "Captain, I am prepared for any boarding party, but can I request that you come over with them. Once you see that what I say is true, then we have much to discuss, and an unknown time frame to discuss it. To show you I am on the level, I will lower our shields now and take our weapons off line." Kev looked at his crew. " Make it so," he said. Lt. Anton Fein started to object from tactical. "No Anton, trust me. I have the ship and her crew well in hand. We can’t match her firepower." "Shields and weapons are off line," Anton finally said, his voice rough. Kev nodded and turned back to the viewscreen. "Captain? Will you be joining us?" She thought it over. "I think I will. I think that you have an interesting story to tell." Kevcabana turned to leave the bridge. "Anton, you have command while I am gone." He motioned to Tray. "You're with me." He glanced at Aurora. "Where did you come from? Oh well, the Admiral's daughter greeting them should be a sign of our peaceful attentions." Aurora smiled as she fell into step behind them. They got onto the turbolift and headed to the transporter deck. They walked in to the transporter room, and Kevcabana turned to the transporter operator. "Are they ready?" "They will be arriving momentarily," he responded. The team from the other ship soon shimmered into existence on the transporter pad: the Captain, another man wearing Lt. markings, a couple of security officers, and a young woman. Aurora gasped in surprise as Kevcabana moved forward to welcome them. "Welcome onboard the USI Hexan," he said. The Captain grimaced as she walked off of the transporter pad. "You really can drop the facade. Who are you really?" she asked, glaring at Kev. He sighed in return. "Perhaps we can discuss this in the conference room. We both probably have questions. Maybe if we work together, we can try to figure out what has happened here." She hesitated a moment, then finally nodded. "Lead the way, Commander," she said. They filed out of the room. Aurora was rooted to the spot, staring at the young woman who had come over. The black haired woman walked over to look at her closely. Suddenly, without warning, she raised a hand and slapped Aurora across the face. "Who are you that you impersonate a USI ship, and now me? My father will be most displeased when he hears of this situation. You will be destroyed for such insolence!" Aurora could not deny that she was looking at an older version of herself. The transporter officer moved forward to interfere after she had hit Aurora, but Aurora motioned him off. Taking a breath, she said, "You don't understand. I AM you." "Why do you play such games?" She turned away in anger, moving towards the door. Aurora grabbed her arm before she could take two steps. "What of our father?" she asked, hope in her eyes. The older Aurora looked down at her. "What are you talking about?" "He is alive?" "Of course he is. He is the Fleet Admiral, over all of USI's 20,000 ships." The older Aurora turned and left the transporter room. Aurora stood there, confusion overwhelming her. If her father was alive in the future, did it mean that this was a different timeline? She would have to report to Kevcabana and tell him what she had found out.
