## Early Life Kara was born the youngest of 5, in a family of privilege. Before the age of 5, her father had already matched her to the son of one of his business associates. While Kara was aware of this fact growing up, it never played a part in her choices of what to study. While still in (high school) her betrothed was killed while away on a trade mission. This newfound freedom, before she had even finished growing, was a heady feeling. As her father grieved the business alliance, Kara discovered the world around her. Suddenly, she was free to accept invitations to social events that her betrothed had felt to be "beneath" him. Kara had previously studied the other known races in the universe, in preparation for her place as hostess. Now, she expanded upon that knowledge, past business and trade agreements, beyond which races could be seated next to each other without causing wars to break out. This newfound thirst for knowledge lead to learning about the history of each race, when/where they had made contact with (the alliance?) and why. Why had they chosen to seek out others? Did they intend to become part of a larger world, or were they running from something on their home planets? How had they made the jump from surface living to space travel? Within this research, Kara found herself drawn to the very beginnings of life. Of the lives that were lost to history, the people who had no one left to tell their tales. ## Marccus Vagen It was during this time that she met a like-minded individual, Marccus. While he was older, and already working on digs across the universe, he none-the-less spent what time he had on (Terra?) with her. They would talk for hours about civilizations he had helped resurrect, and spent much time planning out their future. Kara's father became aware of this new 'interest' of hers much later than he thought. He had maneuvered to place her at the right hand of a rival, set to take over after an 'untimely' demise. However Kara had felt freedom of choice, and no longer wished to be her father's pawn. She felt too much of her life had already been lost to his whims. Her father was furious, and gave her an ultimatum...fall in line or be on the street. For a rich child, he believed she would cave at the possibility of losing everything she had ever known. He was wrong. Kara instead chose to pursue her dream of travel, of learning from what others had left behind, of tracing the origins of all forms of life. And her love, Marccus, was right there beside her.
